A couple who enjoyed their "honeymoon" 12 months ago have finally tied the knot.
Amanda and Jody Morris turned the traditional sequence of getting married before the honeymoon on its head and only became husband and wife at the end of July – nearly a year after enjoying their romantic fortnight in the sun.

The couple, from Spring Rise, Kettering, were forced to postpone their original wedding day because Mrs Morris' divorce from her previous partner had not been completed.

She said: "We found ourselves in a situation where we had to cancel our wedding. We'd planned the event for the register office in the town but we couldn't go through with it as my former partner had not signed the divorce papers.

"There was a lot we had to cancel and we were facing having to cancel the honeymoon – which would have lost us a lot of money – so we decided to go ahead with it anyway."

The couple spent two weeks in Turkey but found themselves explaining to staff that they had been forced to delay their wedding.

Mrs Morris, 34, said: "We'd booked the holiday as a honeymoon and it was a bit strange having to explain to people that we weren't actually married.

"But we still really enjoyed it and had a great time."

Mrs Morris' previous marriage was annulled in February this year – leaving the path clear for them to tie the knot, and the couple was eventually able to celebrate their wedding day on July 26.

Mrs Morris, who has four daughters aged between 18 months and 12 years old, said: "At first we just wanted a quiet wedding but my mother-in-law helped to organise a party with a lot of our friends and family.

"It's been a strange way for everything to work out but we're happily married now and very happy."
