A Corrie star is urging people to help beat dementia.
Actress Sally Lindsay – one-time Rovers Return character Shelley Unwin from Coronation Street – is asking county residents to turn out en masse to support Memory Walk, the Alzheimer's Society's biggest annual fundraiser.

The Alzheimer's Society ambassador said: "I have personal experience of dementia and understand the sadness it causes in families when someone with a zest for life and a lively personality changes out of all recognition.

"Join in the Stanwick Lakes Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk, get yourself sponsored and raise funds that go straight to supporting people with dementia and their carers in the region."

Last year the Stanwick Lakes Memory Walk raised more than £3,000.
The event will be held at Stanwick Lakes on Saturday, September 20.

Starting at 10.30am, registration is from 10am and the walk is open to
people of all ages.

If you would like to take part call Margaret Branford on 01536 517788 for registration and sponsorship forms or go to the website at www.memorywalk.org.uk.
