WELLINGBOROUGH TOWN bounced back from last week's 6-0 hammering at Premier Division leaders Stotfold with a home victory over Northampton Spencer.
Rob Gould's goal on the half-hour was enough to see the Doughboys claim all three points at the Dog & Duck.

Gould headed home Luke Pritchard's corner for what proved to be the winning goal.

Alfie Taylor, David Glass and Dan Spaughton also went
close for the Doughboys.

And Wellingborough boss Les Hornby was delighted with the response of his players after last week's heavy defeat.

He said: "It was a very pleasing performance after last week and to be honest we should have scored more.

"We dominated the game from start to finish and I don't think our goalkeeper Alex Malong had a save to make.

"We were camped in their half for most of the first half without creating much in terms of goalscoring chances. But in the end we were more comfortable winners than the scoreline would suggest."

Wellingborough travel to struggling Potton United next Saturday as their push for promotion from the Premier Division continues.

Wellingborough man of the match: Adam Randall

RAUNDS TOWN
moved up to third from bottom in the league with this hard-fought draw against title-chasing Desborough Town.

Shopmates manager Colin Ridgway said: "I was very pleased because we kept a clean sheet and I think we made them look poor.

"Our confidence grew as the game went on and we fully deserved the point."

Desborough boss Steve Noble, however, admitted his side were poor.

He said: "We had a few late chances. But it would have been an injustice to Raunds if we'd won this game.

"It was a fair result and Raunds battled for their point. I thought we were poor all over."

Raunds captain David Coales missed a fine chance to wrap up all three points when he put a header wide from two yards in injury-time.

Raunds man of the match: Dane Ridgway.

Once again, S&L Corby fell foul to an early goal – this time going down at home to Blackstones.

Andy Boome netted after only 90 seconds to seal all three points at Occupation Road.

S&L then controlled much of the game but again failed to find the back of the net.

S&L boss Paul Ross said: "It was like deja vu. I thought I was watching the same game as last week!

"We conceded early again but after that it was all S&L.

"We're playing very well against top teams at the moment and I can't understand why we are getting nothing out of these games.

"It's frustrating but confidence is high because of the way we are playing. We just need to get that lucky break."

S&L man of the match: Pete Sneddon.
