A young Wellingborough Town side looked impressive at times during last night's 2-1 defeat at UCL Division One side Daventry United.
The Doughboys were particularly cohesive in the opening 45 minutes when talented midfielder Freddy Avill gave them the lead midway through with a fine 20-yard drive.

The usual plethora of substitutions affected the flow of the game in the second half as the hosts scored twice – firstly from close range after 16-year-old keeper Tom Perkins had parried the initial effort and then from an excellent 25-yard strike that gave him no chance.

New boss Jason Burnham was pleased overall with the performance in which the experienced Simon Dunlop and Leon Morgan got valuable match practice after both have been out of action for some time.
