Garry Hill wants three more signings to finish off his summer transfers at Rushden & Diamonds.
The number one priority remains a goalkeeper while the defence also needs another centre-half and a left-back.
Trialists with Football League experience to cover all of those positions have been training with the squad at Kimbolton Preparatory School.
They have joined pre-season signings Daryl Clare, Lee Phillips, Rob Wolleaston, Scott Mitchell and Curtis Osano plus former youth-team winger Lawrence Lambley who was invited back on non-contract forms in a bid to earn a fresh deal.
Diamonds boss Hill said: "The players did a lot of running last week when we mixed things up with plenty of intensity in our training sessions.
"There are a few new lads and trialists as well as those already established at the club.
"There's a good atmosphere and I'm very pleased with the attitude. Everyone has worked very hard.
"I think the lads are starting to get to know each other and they are probably looking forward to the pre-season games now."
Hill's son Glenn has joined the staff as a fitness coach while experienced defender Chris Hope is taking charge of training.
Hill added: "Chris has done very well since I made him head coach. It's a great challenge and an opportunity for him.
"He's relishing the role and enjoying it. He has brought a lot of ideas having played under several managers in the past.
"We've talked about the way we want to work together in training. He's very keen and I believe this will work well."
Diamonds midfielder Curtis Woodhouse, meanwhile, is scheduled to continue his professional boxing career with an eighth bout at Aston Villa Leisure Centre, Birmingham, a week on Saturday.
The pre-season friendly away to Halstead Town has also been re-arranged for Friday (7.45pm).
