They suffered a third home defeat of the Blue Square Premier season as in-form Torquay United ran out 3-1 winners at Nene Park yesterday.

Both teams were reduced to 10 men early in the second half when on-loan Diamonds midfielder Manny Panther was quickly followed down the tunnel by Gulls striker Matt Green.

Diamonds boss Hill reflected: "Following on from the midweek game against Grays Athletic when we played some good stuff, we were waiting to see if this would be a Jekyll and Hyde performance.

"I can't put my finger on it at the moment. So it's a case of getting back to the drawing board.

"We will have a chat and sort it out this morning. We're all disappointed.

"It seems like we are getting there and all of a sudden we get a kick, some of which is self-inflicted. That's very hard and frustrating for everybody.

"We've got to keep working to put it right.

"After 15 games now we will have to look at shipping some players in and out. Otherwise the season will pass us by before we know it.

"I've got to look at a few things and why we played good football and then couldn't follow it up with the second game at home.

"We thought over the last six games we had put a little run together where we felt we were going in the right direction.

"But we keep shooting ourselves in the foot."

Panther's brief spell with Diamonds, meanwhile, looks to be over as he faces a four-match ban for his second sending-off – starting with Saturday's trip to his former club York City.
