Justin Edinburgh can see a growing maturity in the Rushden & Diamonds squad.
They head to Cambridge United tonight in search of an eighth successive win which could put them into the Blue Square Premier's promotion play-off places.

Diamonds are boosted by the return of Lee Tomlin following a one-match ban for Saturday's 3-
1 victory at Salisbury City when late goals from Aaron O'Connor (2) and Paul Terry maintained the perfect run of form.

Edinburgh said: "We are growing and maturing as a squad.

"Seven or eight weeks ago, if we started well but didn't go 1-0 up, there would have been an element of disappointment without panicking.

"Now we are learning how to play games in stages and we showed that on Saturday again.

"We have put ourselves where we are through effort, work-rate and commitment in the way the boys have applied themselves in training and games."

So far this season Cambridge have lost four times at the Abbey Stadium – including their previous home game against Kettering Town.

Edinburgh added: "We won't be going gung-ho at them tonight.

"But we've got four strikers who are all capable of scoring goals and dovetailing off each other with their little scoring spurts.

"As a manager I have to look at tiredness, lack of confidence and poor form creeping in.

"Rotating them around has been an advantage to me since I've been in charge. They all feel they should be in the team and scoring goals.

"Cambridge are in a transitional period with one or two comings and goings.

"I don't suppose the budget is quite as big as it was this time last year.

"But they are coming off the back of a late equaliser at Luton Town which was a very good result.

"I'm sure they will be confident coming into the game and it's a tough place to go with good players in their side.

"We're looking to continue our run and I'm expecting heavy conditions which we must overcome again. We can give a good account of ourselves and get something out of tonight."
