Ghost hunters are on the trail of spirits that haunt a Corby theatre.
Dennis Binks and members of his Northamptonshire Paranormal Investigation Team are hoping to bring the ghosts of the Willows Arts Centre out to play before the old theatre is bulldozed at the end of this month.

Four mediums will be roaming the building late at night, along with members of the public who will be hoping to see the spirits said to haunt its corridors and rooms.

Corby medium Dennis and his fellow clairvoyants decided to hold the event after hearing the Willows was going to be demolished.

He said: "People have had countless experiences with spirits there over the years.

"Apparently, they struggle to get cleaners in to the Festival Hall because people have been so scared in the past.

"Staff have seen a burned man who looks a bit like Flame from X-Men, and there is someone called the Grey Lady who can often be heard crying.

"People have also reported a very cold feeling, similar to when you open a fridge.

"These things tend to happen late at night or when there's only one of two people around."

The Willows will be shut at the end of July to make way for access to the Corby Cube building site. It will be replaced by a new theatre.

Dennis added: "We won't get the chance to do it again.

"When the theatre is knocked down, we believe the spirits will stay
there and just inhabit whatever is built on the site.

"We also think the Willows was built on an old graveyard so we're not sure what we'll be faced with on the night.

"People might think we're mad to go into places like this but we don't find it frightening.

"We'll have four teams of about 10 people in the festival hall, the theatre, the Willow Room and in the church downstairs.

"We're expecting the spirits to come out because they do seem to know when there are structural alterations or changes happening.

"We'll also have a couple of trans-mediums there whose faces actually change to resemble the spirits."

Tickets for the event are £10 which includes refreshments and any profits will go to providing equipment for the team.

It wasn't built on a graveyard it was built on woodland! It's amazing that every "haunted" building has a grey lady.

>tickets for the event cost £10
Well, as it's now a legal requirement for these "events" to be described as "for entertainment only", it's only right that there should be tickets...

I am pleased that people have comented on the Paranormal night at the Willows. I was informed by a good source that when the Willows and the Civic was first built and woodland cleard, as they dug down for the foundations that bones where found, very ancient bones and it was thought that this was an old Saxon Burial site. Over time treest grew over this area as other parts around the Willows.

The grey lady in the Willows has been seen by many people who worked at the Willows complex this was not our input. As reports from other long served employees of the Willows, some that will be there on the night to explain their experiences.

Northamptonshire Paranormal Investigation Team has been active for about four years, in which time we have visited many homes around the County helping families that have real problems, sometimes when even a Priest will not stay in the house, they have no one else to turn to, we have had many successes of helping these families but we never charge anything for this and over the years equipment has become tatty, in need of repair or replacing. This will be our first ever 'event' in all that time so we can replenish the equipment badly needed.

All those from the public that have purchased a ticket and those who will prior to the event will be informed amongst other information that this event is for entertainment purposes only and N.P.I.T. can not guarantee that any Paranormal activity will take place.

People call us in time of need, a very real need when no one else will, we do not class ourselves as in a Ghost Tour 'buisness' but a free service for people that need us.We charge nothing for going on in all weathers at all times to help. We are passionate about what we do and I am sure that on the night it will be a great night.

Love and Light

Dennis
