Tiny towns and little locomotives will thrill the Beanfield estate once again at the weekend.
Corby and District Model Railway Society will hold its annual exhibition in St Peter's and St Andrew's Church Hall in Beanfield Avenue.

Hundreds of enthusiasts attend the show each year to see the trains run through the realistic landscapes.

E
xhibitors come from across the East Midlands to show off their intricate track systems.

Exhibition manager Kevin Emsley said: "We have 14 exhibits and four trade stands to cater for all modelling interests this year.

"Layouts range from an indoor garden railway layout to modern and Canadian railways. A unique Suffolk farm railway with some very unusual locomotive types will also feature.

"There will be a wagon repair yard with passing passenger unit in the background and a model of the iron ore mining machine that will be moving sand and grit from one pile to another during the exhibition."

Also at the exhibition will be trade stands covering new and secondhand locomotives and rolling stock, scenery and tools for modellers. Junior members will also have a unique display of their own.

The society was founded in 1965 and originally met in the Tinderbox at the Corby Candle. It now meets twice weekly at Kelvin Grove.

Mr Emsley said: "A layout featuring some local buildings will be shown for the first time.

"We will also have a Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends layout controlled by visitors."

The event takes place on Saturday between 10.30am and 5pm and Sunday between 11am and 4.30pm.

Entrance is £3 for adults, £2.50 for senior citizens and £1.50 for children. A family ticket for two adults and two children is £8.
