The play area in Butland Road is part of a condition for developers Cofton to provide adequate recreational space for children moving into new homes on the Oakley Vale estate in Corby.
But residents say the area will become a magnet for anti-socia
l behaviour and is in a dangerous position next to a busy main road.
Councillors had rejected a similar application earlier this year but rubber-stamped the new blueprints at a development control committee meeting this week.
Locals have now appealed for a CCTV camera to be put in place at the site on the corner of Butland Road and Lyveden Way.
Resident Gary Manton, of Butland Road, said: "After attending the recent planning meeting regarding the play area, I have come to the conclusion t the planning committee have no interest in the opinions of families living in this area.
"Objections to this proposal had been put forward, with a strong emphasis on child safety, all ignored by the committee. Concerns had been raised about the speed at which people drive along this road, and the expected parking problems, both of which had been seen by the committee members before their meeting. There are no plans for traffic calming measures along this road. The expected noise pollution and vandalism on this site was also ignored.
"There are no plans to erect a security camera around this site as the council are not paying for it so they have not provided any funds for one."
Officers had recommended the plans be passed because the park was a sufficient distance from homes.
At the meeting, the committee decided older children would not want to congregate at a place meant for under-sevens.
Oakley Vale ward councillor David Simms said: "I think it's a disgrace that these plans were passed. I am not against a play area in Oakley Vale, just not in that location.
"It's irresponsible to encourage young children to play so close to a busy main road. We did pay for CCTV at another park in Oakley Vale but we can't do that again as our membership fund has now been stopped."
