An African association is to be launched to help people from the continent settle in Corby.
Members of the town's African community have formed a committee to set up the group to provide support services for the growing population.
A meeting for the new association will be held on Wednesday at Corby Volunteer Bureau.
Committee member
Peter Matsa said: "There are more and more people coming from Africa to Corby and many are coming to live where the houses are being built.
"These people need to be introduced and welcomed into Corby. We want to integrate more in the community within Corby and surrounding areas.
"We also hope to organise social events in the area and help inform people about services available.
"I have been in Corby myself for three years. There's a lot of African people coming and some of them may not be well informed about the town and need to be part of the community."
Another objective of the group is to provide activities and information to highlight cultural issues to the wider community. The idea for the group follows the success of Africa Day celebrations held in the town in May.
Traditional African food was served, people wore colourful dress from African countries and children enjoyed entertainment at Stephenson Way Community Centre.
The meeting is at the former TA building, in Elizabeth Street, between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday.
