Search on for bargain hunter
A BARGAIN hunter is being sought to open a new 99p Store in Kettering.
The store is to open in the Newlands Shopping Centre at 9am on Friday as part of a national expansion for the firm.
To mark the opening, bosses at the value retail chain are looking for a bargain hunter to take part in a 99-second trolley dash and officially open the store.
99p Stores boss Hussein Lalani has promised to double any haul which beats the current record for the 99-second dash of 265 items.
To tie in with the upcoming Christmas rush, the selected bargain hunter will be joined by Santa Claus to open the store.
Mr Lalani said: “We’re looking for anyone who commands and demands value.
“At our new Kettering branch there will be thousands of bargains – not only everyday essentials like food, drinks and toiletries but also lifestyle, fashion, household, gardening and lots more.”
The store, which will be the company’s 156th branch, will create 35 new jobs, including positions like customer service assistants and stock replenishment officers.
This will take the number of jobs created by the company in Northamptonshire up to 300.
The firm, which started in Holloway in London 10 years ago, has been growing in recent years as cash-strapped shoppers change their spending patterns.
The chain plans to double in size over the next three years.
Mr Lalani said: “Our clients, more than one and a half million of them weekly, tell us they are proud to tell all about the wonderful bargains they get at 99p Stores.”
People wanting to apply to be the bargain hunter should write a sentence on why they love a bargain and send it to 99p@6starpr.co.uk.
The closing date for entries is Wednesday.
