An entire school year picked up certificates after learning the dangers of wheelie bin fires, anti-social behaviour and the internet.

Year 5 pupils at Havelock Junior School in Desborough received certificates on Thursday last week after completing the four-week Young Detectives scheme with the emergency services.

PCSO Lizzie Hampson said: “From my point of view it has gone very well.

“They really enjoyed it and have been given certificates.”

Pupils were taken out into the community to visit hotspots for anti-social behaviour and litter.

They learned about Neighbourhood Watch and were set a mission to ask relatives to be vigilant.

Mike Tebbutt, who represents St Giles Ward, Desborough, on Kettering Council, provided funding for the scheme.
