Pothole Returns: potholes on Woodland Ave, Barton Seagrave have re-formed on the road outside The Stirrup Cup pub. resident Barbara Gilbrook looks at the pothole Tuesday 8th February 2012

Potholes filled in twice just a year ago have reappeared following the recent bad weather.

Residents have contacted the Evening Telegraph about cracks and divots in Woodland Avenue, Barton Seagrave.

One particularly troublesome hole in the road had to be filled in January and February last year, but it has appeared again.

Valerie Pycroft, of nearby Cranford Road, said: “The holes have all opened up again and are getting worse.

“It’s absolutely disgusting, what a waste of money – the council obviously didn’t do a good enough job last time.”

Last year, Northamptonshire County Council told residents the road could take six months to be fixed, but filled the holes within hours of the Evening Telegraph raising the issue.

Six weeks later more had appeared and they were filled again.

Barbara Gilbrook, of Grosvenor Way, said: “The road is quite badly cracked again.

“It is not going to take much for the holes to open up.

“A couple of years ago I went down a big pothole in my car and it badly damaged my wheel.

“It is important that the potholes are sorted out.”

A spokesman for Northamptonshire County Council said: “Wide-scale patching work to the road in Woodland Avenue is scheduled for early April.

“We inspect our roads frequently for signs of wear and tear but with thousands of miles of highway in the county we also rely on the public letting us know about any defects to the carriageway.”
