Choir bidding to be the best

A GROUP of singers will audition for BBC Choir of the Year tomorrow.

Kettering-based choir Belcanto will be one of 26 choirs auditioning in the first stage of the contest at Milton Keynes Theatre.

The singers, who have been practising since Christmas, will perform music by Jacob Handl, Eric Whitacre and Gyorgy Orban.

Musical director Barry Clark said: “This is the first stage of the competition and we know that there are some other outstanding choirs involved, so we will hope that our programme appeals to the adjudicators.”
