Pledge to help workers from Northampton businesses

A group of representatives from the business community have signed a pledge committing themselves to a 10-point package of measures to make sure agency and temporary employees get their rights.
Sally Keeble, Labour MP for Northampton North, is behind the initiative which came out of a recent surgery where students complained about the way they were being treated at work.
The package of measures includes making sure workers get paid all their money on time, not having deductions made without their consent and getting paid holiday.
Mrs Keeble said: "They were going direct to not very good employers, and clearly did not know their rights, and did not know how to improve things.
"The pledge is based on the work that Phil Hope has been doing in Corby, but with some minor changes, and is being targeted directly at the students.
"The companies that sign up to it all have a certificate they can display on their walls, and the students will be told about their rights and told about which agencies are signed up to the pledge."
