A trainee accountant at Barclaycard in Northampton has earned the third highest mark in the world with her latest set of exam results.

Elizabeth Draper said she was shocked to learn she had scored so highly in her strategic level Chartered Institute of Management Accountant qualifications, which comprised of three exams.

More than 5,000 people across the world took part in the exam and the results were worked out on the total of all three exams.

Miss Draper of Shirley Road, Rushden, said: "I knew I had done well but didn't realise I had done that well.

"I was really shocked when I found out and am now focusing on my final exam in November.

"Once I have completed the course I will continue on working where I am now, but will have an extra qualification."

Tutor Tom Hartgill from trainers Kaplan Financial said: "We were all so thrilled when we heard Liz had been placed an incredible third in the world.

"And all the more so because she has worked so hard and contributed a lot to the class discussions."
