1,100 new businesses set up in Northampton

Barclays estimates that there were 1,100 business start-ups in Northamptonshire in the first quarter of 2008, which is the highest in the last three quarters.

The most popular industries for start-ups were business and financial services, construction and the retail sector.

John Davis, Marketing Director for Local Business at Barclays, said new small business entrepreneurs were smaller in numbers but they were still finding opportunities in the market place.
