A CAMPAIGN to help tackle hospital infections is being launched today.
The campaign, Hand in Hand: Fighting Infection Together 2008, follows a campaign last December which was coordinated by NHS East Midlands.

Each week there will be a different focus to cover the different aspects of infection control.

In the first week trusts will be looking at cleanliness during patient treatment then ways of improving hand hygiene. In the third week trusts will be highlighting the overuse of antibiotics, before looking at how MRSA is tackled in the following week.

The final week will be a round-up for the campaign.

Jan Norman, director of quality, standards and learning, Northamptonshire Teaching PCT, said: "Tackling healthcare acquired infections is a key priority and this campaign is an excellent way of raising awareness of this important issue and educating colleagues and patients.
